| Welcome to the website for
the Mt. Diablo Chapter of the International Plastic Modelers
Society (IPMS). The Mt. Diablo Chapter is located in sunny
central California about 30 miles northeast of San Francisco.
We serve the San Francisco/East Bay region.
The Mt. Diablo chapter is a club dedicated to the promotion
of the hobby of scale modeling. It was founded in 1991 when
local modelers decided an IPMS club was needed in the East
Bay. Our club caters to many genres of scale modeling from
cars, airplanes, armor, ships to historical figures, trains,
sci-fi kits as well as gaming, fantasy and resin "garage
kits" that include horror, dinosaurs, female figures
and so on. We welcome anyone to our meetings, which are
fun, care free and informative
Many of our meetings include
a round table discussion where member discuss the models
they have brought in and are working on. Often these discussions
allow the free exchange of ideas, how to tips and reviews
of kits, photo etched sets, decals, and resin after market
upgrade. You can bet you will learn a trick or two from
our members who have won their share awards and trophies...but
remember we are a very loose and care free club where you
will not be intimidated if you are new to the modeling scene.
Often our meetings also include
a presentation on a particular subject or a specific technique
like weathering, dry brushing, pastels, etc. We also host
model contests in our area or in co-ordination with the
Santa Rosa IPMS Chapter. Many member swap kits as well.
Anyone can attend our meetings
and IPMS membership is not needed.
